So, I was presented with the challenge of coming up with an Irish Romance. And the more thought I did, the more I realized how few Irish Romances truly had happy endings (by our definition).

Still, I think there's a lot to be said for the tragic beauty of the tale of Tristan and Iseult (some people say Isolde...though there are about 6 versions of her name). Here are two people destined to be together even though all the world has been thrown in front of them hellbent on keeping them separate. They share only passioned, fleeting moments with one another, and do what they can despite their better judgement.

For those of you that don't know, Iseult is an expert herbalist and healer, which comes in handy for when she finds poor Tristan, nearly dead from poison inflicted during a battle with her (unwanted) betrothed.

Trust me when I say, their story is SO complicated I cannot begin to explain all of it and do it justice. If you saw the movie: good. You scratched the surface.

Though in the end they can only be rejoined in death, they never stopped loving each other.

stock credits go to:

=faestock - Iseult of Ireland
~LinzStock - Tristan (the always beaten and never well)
*gild-a-stock - Newgrange-y texture of awesome
*SerendipityStock- All of the Irish background pieces.

Other textures are mine. Cloak, Bandages, Chalice, Sword, and various other things were painted.

My work may not be redistributed, used for icons, layouts, signatures, myspace etc. Don't even try it. I added my own watermark this time.

I feel like a hero and you are my heroine. I won't try to philosophize,
I'll just take a deep breath and I'll look in your eyes. This is how I feel.
This is truly beautimous, hon. I love the Tristan & Iseult story (so much so I named my cat Tristan). The blending, the colours... perfect. Very melancholy but calming at the same time.

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done...”
George Carlin
Great way to present the scene. I love the texture overlaying it.
