One Dark Autumn by Lindowyn One Dark Autumn by Lindowyn

I must have lost my mind attempting to paint this. Yep...I submitted an actual deviation that wasn't a photomanipulation or a photograph. :|

Seriously, my hand is going to fall off and I'm so tired I'm welcoming this little hand rebellion because I can't actually blame it.

Hokay:

I used a photograph and painted over it to make the background because I'm not brave enough to try my own completely yet BUT--It is my own photo, and I took it for this purpose. I can't paint for crap.

The figure was referenced from another photo, the rest of that set (if you are interested) can be found in my stock account. This particular image is not posted. However, the figure itself was referenced ONLY. Not a paintover.

The embroidery was referenced from Elrond's sash from the LOTR movies. This character is an OC from our LOTR roleplaying game. His name is Firen, which is made to mean "Dark Autumn", hence the title.

Thanks so much to =joannastar, =cryingsorceress and *TheArcher777 for all the crits along the way to help.

Photoshop 7: About 12 hours total.
Print does not bear watermark.

Will probably go back later and correct any nitpicky things I find along the way, but for now I'm content enough. (even though my hand is not)

Trust me, the details are worth viewing. :D

Wow, it looks pretty good so far. I understand that you did an overpaint for the background, I only recently tried out painting detailed backgrounds and it is hard work :D But also fun ^^

The skintones fit the overall piece, I would suggest not only to use midtones, but also more stronger highlights ;)

You found me! D: D: And thank you!

My most recent painted thingy is in my scraps actually. They take me so long to do that I usually just wind up manipulating photos instead. I'm working on a really big digital painting right now, so sometime within the next yeeeear or so it might get uploaded here.

I'm going to kick your ass. My foot---> your ass.

(but I'm glad you like it ;) )

Stop staring at yourself in the mirror! Weird things happen when you do that for too long. 0.0

Oh, yes, the details are definitely worth viewing!
This is so different from the WIP. I just love what you did to his shirt! The background is really nice too; I'm glad that you didn't use a photograph. It looks so dreamy and everything fits together so well!

:ohnoes: You scare me lots. This is what you get when you say "draw Firen!" you know. Call it a graduation gift because I'm poor. Perhaps I will bring you bagels if painting dedication is odd. 0.0
